Vanessa is a skilled analyst with experience across the social sciences, from psychology to population and household dynamics. She is able to bring together multiple sources, identify the key issues and convey the central messages in plain language. For our clients, this means delivering strategic and actionable insights tailored to specific business needs in a range of settings. Having worked with various visualisation tools throughout her career, she is adept at working with data to uncover the core message and show that with a visual representation.
Since joining Astrolabe in mid-2019, Vanessa has provided key insights from engagement activity data as part of City of Sydney's development of their new community strategic plan, Sydney 2050 and developed economic and demographic analysis to support our work across Western Sydney councils.
Vanessa worked as a demographer at NSW Department of Planning and Environment and was responsible for research and analysis on demographic change and its implications for growth precincts and regional plans. She provided demographic advice to the NSW Government to enable evidence-based strategic urban and regional planning, infrastructure and services planning and policy development. She was also a member of the team who prepared the NSW population, household and dwelling projections.
In her most recent role before joining Astrolabe, Vanessa worked as a retail research manager in the real estate sector where she used consumer and economic research to provide advice to senior decision-makers on strategic business investment and operational decisions. Vanessa has also applied her quantitative research skills in market research with a variety of clients ranging from the consumer goods industry to Government sector. She has also conducted and managed clinical research as a neuropsychology research clinician at Macquarie University.
In her other life, Vanessa plays with clay (every day) and is completing her advanced diploma in ceramics.
