The challenge:
The impact of the 2022 floods was significant for the region, resulting in a shift in Council’s economic priorities. The majority of activities outlined in Lismore’s current Economic Development Strategy had not commenced. Council required economic analysis to re-evaluate priorities.
What we did:
- Horizon scan of local, state and national plans and strategies
- Collection and analysis of data on Lismore’s economy
- Targeted engagement with stakeholders
We found that Lismore’s population and workforce is ageing, there is a lack of housing availability and the ability to attract and retain workers in health and education will be essential in enabling Lismore’s economy.
Results:
- Developed an Engagement Memo that highlights key findings from key institutions and agencies operating in Lismore.
- Delivery of a final background paper used to inform Lismore’s Economic Development Strategy.
