Supporting NSW Ports for future planning for freights and logistics for Greater Sydney and beyond.

Wingecarribee Shire Council

Project Highlights

Advocating for continued investment and policy interventions that support operations at the Ports and freight movements as NSW’s demand for freight grows.

The bottom line

Support NSW Ports for future planning for freights and logistics for Greater Sydney and beyond.

The challenge:

By 2063, NSW will be home to 12 million people. Port Botany will remain Australia’s premium port for the next 40 years and NSW Ports want to revise their 40-year Master Plan to guide future investment and policy interventions. The limited supply of industrial lands will drive the need for multi-storey warehouse developments and intensification of uses on these lands.

What we did:

We provided data analysis and research activities to assist NSW Ports with the preparation of a 40-year Master Plan. This included assessing infrastructure needs, precinct-specific planning, future land use planning and forecasting population and import/export scenarios to 2063.

Results:

  • We provided NSW Ports with an understanding of the key issues for their assets and how to maintain efficient freight and logistics networks for the future.

We provided evidence to support advocacy streams for the organisation and supported the drafting of the 2063 Master Plan.
