Investing in Future-Ready Community Infrastructure for the Next 20 Years

Wingecarribee Shire Council

Project Highlights

Developed a Community and Recreation Facilities Strategy that guides Council’s future investment in community infrastructure.

Astrolabe identified Priority Region Shaping Actions, Shire Wide Actions and more detailed place-based actions.

The bottom line

Supporting Council to invest in community infrastructure that meet the needs of a changing community over the next 20 years.

The challenge:

Infrastructure and facilities need to align with the expectations of the wider community, the provision of asset management and Council’s long term strategic planning and financial sustainability.

What we did:

We expanded on a detailed study provided by Council which included facilities audits, provision rate analysis and community engagement to identify clear planning and provision principles. We utilised these principles to develop the Community and Recreation Facility Strategy including key actions to guide Council’s future planning of facilities.

Results:

  • The Strategy uses key recreational planning principles whilst also considering the unique geographies of the Wingecarribee Shire Council lands.
