Michael’s vision led to the establishment of Astrolabe Group in 2017 and he works with clients to understand their needs to deliver novel, high impact interventions that are fit for purpose.
Through his generous and authentic approach to challenges, Michael is ambitious in his desire to make positive change and not limited by the status quo. Michael analyses the current situation noting pain points and opportunities that can create positive impact for clients and their stakeholders. He works with clients to develop conceptual frameworks and solutions to respond to opportunities. Michael harnesses his deep network to collect information and develop and partnerships that can support our client’s ambitions.
Michael contributes to planning and infrastrucure through his membership on the UDIA NSW Smart City and Sustainable Built Environment Committee and as an elected official of the Planning Institute of Australia.

Prior to establishing Astrolabe Group, Michael was an Executive Director in the NSW public service and has over fifteen years of experience advising government and industry stakeholders on infrastructure, land use and innovation matters. He was the author of the Health and Education chapters of the 2014 State Infrastructure Strategy, developing an economic appraisal framework to assist in the prioritisation of infrastructure. He led the development of a proof of concept for a data-driven approach to infrastructure programming in South East Sydney, and support for the introduction of legislation that led to the creation of the Western Sydney Parklands Trust.
Michael is a keen gardener and passionate about care for country and learning from the traditional owners of the this land.
